Download brochure for more dtails and kit contents.Save up to 256 cable or network tests, export and print reports.Visually identify a hub or switch and locate cable runs with Link Light.Requires an analog tone tracing probe such as the PROBEplus Tone Tracing Probe (VDV500-060) - Sold separately Multiple style (4 cadences) tone generator capable of sending a tone on a single conductor, a conductor pair or over all conductors.Test and identify location n one step (two-end testing) with Test-n-Map ID remotes (RJ45 ports) - supports up to 8 remotes.Locate and identify cables with location ID remotes, Test-n-Map ID remotes, Link Light and Tone Generator.Perform active network (Ethernet) testing - detect capabilities and connection speeds. Single-end cable testing or complete two-end cable testing with Test-n-Map ID Remotes.Measure paired-conductor cables up to 1500-feet (457 m) with accuracy of up to +/- (5-percent and 1-foot/0.3 m) and verify shield.Measure cable length andistance to a fault with Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) technology.Detect, identify and test Power over Ethernet (PoE).Identify wiring faults including miswire, open fault, short fault, split-pair, and verify shielding.Locate, test and measure coaxial, and data (RJ45) cables.Use the Link Light to identify a hub or switch with a blinking light or visually locate cable runs by flashing system status/activity LED. In addition, the Commander detects Power over Ethernet (PoE) and can store and output test results for easy report m anagement. Simplify cable estimating and bill jobs more accurately. Measure cable remaining in a box or on reel. Ensure compliance and identify cable runs outside specification. Identify the distance to a short then determine if a cable is broken or damaged. It's a very reasonably priced tester, and if you are making lots of cables or terminating long wiring runs, it's a good investment.Klein Tools’ VDV Commander Test Kit locates, tests and measures coax, data and telephone cables to ensure fast and accurate installations. The tester includes a fairly comprehensive instruction sheet, including several wiring diagrams. I don't work with RJ11/12 and fortunately have never needed to terminate phone lines, so I didn't test those ports, but it does support RJ11 connectors as well if you need to test those. The Tester has a 9V battery installed already, so you can start testing immediately. The Remote unit is very small, and handily clips into the bottom of the main Tester. The tool feels solid and made of high quality plastic. If there's an issue with the wire, one of the three red lights will turn on in the FAULT section. If the cable is fine, a green light will appear in the PASS area at the top of the tester. It automatically turns on, and automatically turns off. There's only one button on the tester: TEST, so it couldn't be easier. It's incredibly simple: Just plug one end of the cable in the main tester port and the other end of the cable in the "Remote" port, and press the single Test button. If you are making and crimping your own Ethernet cables, or installing keystone jacks or patch panels, this tool is a handy time saver to verify the RJ45 termination.
